Last held in 1996, this is a one-off event
organised by my Brother in Law. It's a rarity and, therefore, one not to be missed! The walk is a long one, but you can attempt
it safe in the knowledge that you can give up at any of the many checkpoints and be transported back to the start.
Being in Suffolk, the terrain is relatively
flat, however, the scenery is varied and very beautiful. The day section takes in Constable country through the Dedham Vale
(Flatford Mill, The Haywain), with the night section around the Shotley Peninsula between the rivers Orwell and Stour and
the sea at Harwich. On good paths, tracks and the occasional beach with much varied scenery. Starts from Holbrook Village
Hall, near Ipswich.
I can whole-heartedly recommend this walk
for anyone with a sense of adventure who is looking for a personal challenge.
If anyone fancies having a go, maybe we could form a "Grough-Stuff" Team.
