In association with DateActive, Grough-Stuff Walks is pleased to be able to offer the following 'Guided Walking Events' specifically aimed at 'active' single people.

Hathersage Circular (1/12/07) *NOTE - NOW COMPLETED!

Led by 'Ranger Bob', this was a moderate 9 mile walk which started & finished at the Railway Station in the village of Hathersage in the Peak District.

The terrain was varied and interesting, including valleys, woodland, fields and villages. The route also passed through the infamous 'Plague Village' of Eyam. A talking point for all who visit.

*Note - This was originally an 11 mile walk, however, it was reduced to 9 miles due to daylight constraints! We didn't want to be running around the route to get back before the sun went down :-)

Unfortunately, a number of participants cancelled the day before the walk, however, 7 hardy souls decided the weather forecast might just be wrong...how right they were! We had a fantastic sunny day....a bit chilly at times, but great walking weather.
Another unfortunate result of the cancellations was a total skew of the male/female ratio. One Lady to 6 Guys....Lucky Linda :-)
Anyway, a visit to The Barrel at Bretton, followed by a visit to Ye Olde Tea Shoppe in Eyam, brought about some witty banter and a few laughs from the 'gang of 7'. I think everyone enjoyed it....but next time Ladies, please, please, don't use the BBC Weather forecast to make your decision to cancel or not. Check out the weather forecast link on this website for a truly accurate forecast.

As opposed to some of the more adventurous or risky activities on offer, coming on a 'group-walk' has got to be one of the best and most relaxing ways to meet lots of new & interesting people, and because you will be spending much of the day with them, it gives you ample time to get to know them so much better.

Walks can now be paid for on-line by using Paypal

Please come prepared for a full day out in the countryside. This means stout walking boots/shoes, waterproof & warm clothing, a packed lunch and a hot/cold drink. Remember, the weather conditions in The Peak District are notoriously changeable and temperatures in the valleys can be a good 10 degrees warmer than on the tops! Be prepared for the worst 'mother nature' can throw at you!

*NOTE - I reserve the right to alter the walk to best suit the capabilities of the group and taking weather conditions into account.
